Today{25th November} is Amistad Victory Day. In 1841, the slaves who
seized the Amistad in 1839 were freed by the Supreme Court.
A rebellion broke out when the schooner, traveling along the
coast of Cuba, was taken over by a group of captives who had
earlier been kidnapped in Africa and sold into slavery. The
slaves were defended by former president John Quincy Adams.
