This day celebrates the birthday of Edward Lear (1812), whose Book of Nonsense popularized limericks. Trivia buffs: Lear was the twentieth child of Jeremiah and Ann Lear! He was raised by his oldest sister, who was old enough to be his mother: she was 21 years older than Edward Lear.
