1968,
Jocelyn Bell and Antony Hewish of Cambridge University
in
England announced the discovery of pulsars, which were
first
detected on November 28, 1967, at the Mullard Radio
Astronomy
Observatory in Cambridge, England. Trivia buffs: they
nicknamed that first signal LGM-1, for "little green men"
because the thought that the signals might be from
another
civilization in outer space had crossed their minds!
"The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the
more
assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will
direct us along the path to its fulfillment."
By Earl Nightingale
